Canadian Online Gambling losing out to foreign territories?

Paul Burns the Vice president of the Canadian Gaming association has recently claimed that Canadian online gamblers are spending up to $1billion. His concern is that Canada is not benefiting from this as the profits are simply going to the offshore gaming operators. Mr Burns wants a change in the law to legalise online casino play.

If this was to happen there would be tighter controls in place, to ensure that players gambling habits could be monitored and would also stop the risk of under age gambling.

If there was a U turn, in terms of the legal status of gambling in Canada this may see a steady incline in the number of online casino players and the UK based games are becoming increasingly popular online, in particular the Rainbow Riches title is picking up online players at a steady pace. Who knows if Canada will make some strides towards a legal truce for online gambling?
